EuroROSE Project

EuroROSE Project was funded by the European Commission. This EU project involved several European research centers to demonstrate the capabilities of coastal radar stations for ocean wave and current monitoring. Two field experiments took place durng the EuroROSE project in the year 2000. The first one between January and February in the Norwegian isle of Fedje. The second experiment was carried out in the area close to the Spanish city of Gijón from October to December. Two different radar systems were used in both field experiments: The HF radar WERA (developed at the University of Hamburg), and X-band marine radar using the WaMoS system (developed by the German Research Center GKSS, nowadays Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht).
